Today’s journey takes us deep into the rugged landscapes of British Columbia, where dramatic canyons, ancient cultural sites, and rich wildlife habitats await.
Begin at Farwell Canyon, a striking natural area known for its sand formations, sculpted cliffs, and unique rock pillars. This culturally significant site has long held importance for Indigenous communities and traditional salmon fishing.
Continue into Tweedsmuir South Provincial Park, one of the largest wilderness parks in the province. Here, keep an eye out for wildlife such as bears, eagles, and other native species while surrounded by untouched alpine scenery.
Visit the Belarko Wildlife Viewing Platform for a chance to observe wildlife in its natural habitat, especially during peak viewing season.
The day concludes in the remote coastal valley of Bella Coola, where mountains meet rainforest in a breathtaking natural setting.
100 Mile House → Farwell Canyon (30 mins) → Tweedsmuir South Provincial Park → Belarko Wildlife Viewing Platform (30 mins) → Bella Coola
The Belarko Wildlife Viewing Platform is open from September 1, 2026 to September 30, 2026.
During closure periods, wildlife viewing will be arranged in other areas of Tweedsmuir South Provincial Park depending on conditions and animal activity.
This morning, depart from Bella Coola and journey into the vast wilderness of Tweedsmuir Provincial Park, a region rich in glaciers, rivers, and pristine alpine landscapes.
Enjoy an immersive wildlife experience as you explore bear habitats along forested river corridors and remote wilderness areas. From late summer into early fall, salmon spawning season brings extraordinary wildlife activity, offering a rare chance to observe bears feeding in their natural environment, along with eagles and other native species.
Continue to the VieBelarko Wildlife wing Platform for guided wildlife observation, where patience may be rewarded with sightings of black bears, grizzlies, and even the elusive spirit bear.
After a full day in the wilderness, return toward Bella Coola for an overnight stay and rest in the valley surrounded by coastal mountains.
Bella Coola → Tweedsmuir Provincial Park (bear watching, fishing & rafting experience, approx. 4 hours) → Belarko Wildlife Viewing Platform → Bella Coola
Wildlife sightings are natural and cannot be guaranteed, as animal activity depends on weather, season, and environmental conditions. September is typically the best time to observe salmon runs and increased bear activity in the region.
