The Bund, Nanjing Road, Yuyuan and Tianzifang with your own driver-guide, a free day or an optional West Lake trip, 4-star hotels — any day you like
A private two-night stop in Shanghai that fits at either end of a China trip or on its own. You are met at the airport by your own driver-guide, and the first day covers the city’s best-known sights: the Bund, the 1.5-kilometre riverfront of 52 pre-war banks and trading houses facing the Pudong skyline; Nanjing Road, the main shopping street; the lanes and snack stalls of Yuyuan Old Street; and Tianzifang, the arts-and-cafés quarter in the old French Concession.
Day two is free. Stay in the city and explore at your own pace, or take the optional day trip to Hangzhou — West Lake, the Longjing tea plantations, Song Dynasty Town and its show, with lunch — at USD 200 per person, paid locally. Day three is breakfast and a transfer to the airport.
Two nights with breakfast at 4-star hotels — Holiday Inn Express the first night and Hilton Garden Inn Shanghai Airport the second, or hotels of the same standard. Because it is a private tour with a car and English-speaking guide, it runs on any date for two adults or more, except over the Chinese public holidays.

Your driver-guide meets you at the airport and, arrival time permitting, the sightseeing begins straight away. First the Bund, the 1,500-metre promenade along the Huangpu River lined with 52 historic buildings — Romanesque, Baroque, Beaux-Arts, Gothic and Renaissance revival — with the Pudong towers across the water. Then Nanjing Road, the city’s main shopping street.
In the afternoon, Yuyuan Old Street, the bazaar lanes around the Ming-dynasty Yu Garden and the City God Temple, where you can try local snacks, and finally Tianzifang, a maze of shikumen lane houses in the former French Concession now filled with studios, small shops and cafés. Check in to the hotel afterwards.
The day is yours. Stay in the city and explore at your own pace — the museums, the markets, the old Concession streets — or rest at the hotel.
Optional day trip to Hangzhou (USD 200 per person, paid locally, lunch included): a stroll or boat ride on West Lake, with the Broken Bridge and Leifeng Pagoda; the Longjing tea plantations in the hills outside the city, where China’s best-known green tea is grown; and Song Dynasty Town, a historical theme park, ending with the Song Dynasty Show, a large-scale stage performance about the period.
Breakfast at the hotel, then a private transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
