Norris Geyser Basin, named after an early Yellowstone Superintendent, may be the hottest geyser basin in Yellowstone. The stark, barren landscape of Porcelain Basin is the result of the acidic environment. Due to the hostile condition plants, algae and bacteria have difficulty in establishing themselves. Instead, the basin derives its colors from mineral oxides, in spectrums of pink, red, orange (iron oxides) and yellow (sulfur and iron sulfates). The largest geyser in the world is located here. Steamboat Geyser has long periods of dormancy, but when it does erupt it sends jets of water nearly 380 feet high in a spectacular display.
The Upper Falls is located 400 meters upstream of the larger Yellowstone Falls. The waterfall falls vertically along the volcanic cliff with a drop of 33 meters. The originally uneven volcanic rocks below the waterfall have been eroded by the waterfall for hundreds of years and have become very smooth.
The scenery here is particularly spectacular. The canyon is more than 300 feet deep. The canyon walls are mainly yellow, mixed with black, red and pink, and clusters of green pine trees. These colors are mixed but not chaotic, looking like a peacock's tail, and also like the pointillism of a romantic painter who applied several layers of color in the same place.

The Palette is a mud fountain. The mud and rocks contain minerals, which are melted by the acidic hot spring to form mud. Because the muddy water is very viscous, you can clearly see the slow formation and disappearance of bubbles. The mud around the fountain looks like dried oil paint, making the fountain itself look like a pot of water washed with oil paint, just like a painter's canvas, overflowing with colorful seasonings.
Also known as the Seven Color Pool, it is the largest hot spring in the United States and the third largest in the world. It is 75-91 meters wide and 49 meters deep, and it gushes out about 2,000 liters of 71-degree hot water every minute. The amazing thing about the Grand Prismatic Spring is that the color of the lake changes with the seasons. In spring, the lake changes from emerald green to golden orange-red, which is due to the algae and pigment-containing bacteria and other microorganisms living in the mineral-rich water. In midsummer, the chlorophyll content is relatively low, so the lake water appears brilliant orange, red or yellow. But in the cold winter, due to the lack of light, these microorganisms will produce more chlorophyll to suppress the color of carotenoids, so the water will appear deep dark green.
Old Faithful geyser is named for its consistent and regular eruption. Currently, it erupts approximately every 60 to 110 minutes, and each eruption lasts four to five minutes. The water column is more than 40 meters high, which is spectacular and never stops. The Old Faithful Visitor Center will display the eruption schedule in advance, so you can check the eruption time in advance before visiting with confidence.

The lake is fed by the Bear, Weber, and Jordan rivers and has no outlet. The lake has fluctuated greatly in size, depending on the rates of evaporation and the flow of the rivers that feed it. Like the Dead Sea, the Great Salt Lake exists within an arid environment and has chemical characteristics like that of the oceans. However, it has a much greater salinity than the oceans, since natural evaporation exceeds the supply of water from the rivers feeding the lake.

Contained within Temple Square are the Salt Lake Temple, Salt Lake Tabernacle, Salt Lake Assembly Hall, the Seagull Monument, and two visitors' centers. The square was designated a National Historic Landmark District in 1964, recognizing the Mormon achievement in the settlement of Utah.

Reserve online and pay the CAD $300 per-person deposit right away (unless a different amount is stated for this tour) — that secures your booking. We then confirm availability, usually within 24 hours, and update your booking status — if we cannot confirm your reservation, your deposit is refunded in full. The balance is due 30 days before departure. The deposit option applies to bookings made more than 60 days before departure — within 60 days of departure, full payment is required at booking.

This La Quinta stands on Wiley Post Way just off Interstate 80 in the airport business district west of downtown Salt Lake City, a short drive from Salt Lake City International Airport. Its 114 non-smoking rooms have a flat-screen HDTV, microwave, desk, coffee/tea maker and ironing kit; free Wi-Fi is included for Wyndham Rewards members.
A free Bright Side Breakfast of waffles, coffee and more is served each morning, and the Bright Side Market sells snacks around the clock. The free airport shuttle runs every 45 minutes from 4:00 to 11:35 am and 4:00 to 11:35 pm. Guests can use the heated indoor pool and fitness centre; parking is free, pets are welcome and the hotel has 1,300 sq ft of meeting space in three rooms.
The White Buffalo Hotel has stood on Dunraven Street since 1967 and has been owned by the Beattie family since 2011; the West Yellowstone town centre is a short walk and the west gate of Yellowstone National Park is a few minutes' drive. The rooms, with two queen or two double beds and sleeping up to four, were modernised with upgraded mattresses while keeping a rustic look of natural wood and lava rock; each has a refrigerator, flat-screen TV, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.
The hotel's own Cowboy Kitchen serves a full hot breakfast buffet from mid-May to mid-October (about $15 per person; two breakfasts a day are included in each room rate, children five and under free). Guests can relax in the private courtyard with deck; there is free parking, luggage storage and a self-service laundry. The building is a two-floor walk-up with no elevator, so ask for a ground-floor room if stairs are a problem, and there is no pool. Cancellations need 72 hours' notice.
Terra Nova Cabins stands across the road from Hebgen Lake in the Gallatin National Forest, on US-287 north-west of West Yellowstone; the town is about a 20-minute drive and the park's West Entrance roughly 13–20 miles away, so this is a quieter, lakeside alternative to staying in town. The property was previously Kirkwood Resort & Marina and now has 27 units ranging from deluxe queen cabins and kitchenette cabins to a classic three-bedroom cabin.
Every cabin has a mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker, with full kitchenettes in selected units; Wi-Fi is available but slow because of the remote location, and there are no in-room phones or restaurant. The Lakeview Market on site sells snacks, drinks, groceries and fuel, and there is a fire pit and free parking. Pets are not allowed. Cell coverage is limited, so guests should download maps in advance.
Grant Village Lodge is one of the in-park hotels run by Yellowstone National Park Lodges, set on the south-west shore of Yellowstone Lake near West Thumb Geyser Basin and about 35 km from Old Faithful. Opened in 1984 and named after President Ulysses S. Grant, it has 300 plain rooms spread over six two-storey buildings, each with one queen or two double beds, a private bathroom, mini-refrigerator, coffee maker, hairdryer and fan; there is no television or air conditioning and 12 rooms are ADA-accessible with roll-in showers.
The Grant Village Dining Room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Lake House offers casual meals by the water, and there is a lounge and a gift store; a general store and petrol station are in the village. The lodge operates only from late May to early October. Tour groups are assigned rooms here on a first-come basis; when Grant Village is full the tour uses a hotel in West Yellowstone instead.
SpringHill Suites Salt Lake City Airport is a five-storey all-suite hotel on Wiley Post Way, in the hotel cluster between Interstate 80 and Salt Lake City International Airport. Every one of the 143 suites has a bedroom with one king or two queen beds, a separate sitting area with a pull-out sofa bed, a desk, a mini-refrigerator, a microwave and a coffee maker; the bathroom has a walk-in shower or bathtub. Suites are around 25 per cent larger than a standard hotel room, which makes them comfortable for a couple or a small family before and after the Yellowstone drive. The hotel is fully non-smoking, has lifts to every floor, and offers accessible suites with roll-in showers.
A free hot breakfast buffet is served every morning (6:30–9:00 on weekdays, 7:00–9:30 at weekends): scrambled eggs, waffles, oatmeal, cereals, pastries, fruit, coffee and tea. The 24-hour Market in the lobby sells snacks, drinks and simple meals; restaurants sit within a short drive along North Temple.
Heated indoor pool, 24-hour fitness centre with treadmills, a bike and free weights, an outdoor patio, a business centre, a guest laundry and a 375 sq ft boardroom for up to 12 people. Free Wi-Fi throughout. On-site parking is charged per day; the airport shuttle is free and runs around the clock.
About 2 km from the SLC terminal — 7 minutes on the shuttle — and 10 km (10–15 minutes by car) from Temple Square, the Salt Palace Convention Center and the Delta Center in downtown Salt Lake City. The Utah State Fairpark and the Maverik Center are close by, and Interstate 80 is at the end of the street for the drive north to Jackson and Yellowstone.
The STRAT stands at 2000 South Las Vegas Boulevard, at the northern tip of the Strip about halfway between the central Strip resorts and Downtown/Fremont Street. Opened in 1996 as the Stratosphere and rebranded in January 2020 after a USD 140 million renovation, the property has 2,427 rooms in three towers; the renovated Elevate, Elite and Select rooms measure 320-340 sq ft, with larger tower and grand suites available.
Dining ranges from the revolving Top of the World steakhouse in the tower to CHI Asian Kitchen, PT's Wings & Sports, the STRAT Cafe, Starbucks and a food court. The 80,000 sq ft casino, the seasonal Swim & Social rooftop pool and a 24-hour fitness centre are on site, and the SkyPod observation decks and thrill rides sit 108 floors up.
