The Red Lion Hotel & Conference Center Cheyenne sits beside I-80 at exit 362 on the southern edge of Wyoming's capital: downtown, the Cheyenne Depot Museum and the Wyoming State Museum are 4–5 minutes away by car and Cheyenne Regional Airport about 6 minutes. The 245 recently refreshed rooms and suites have free Wi-Fi, a work desk with extra outlets, air conditioning, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and walk-in shower; pet-friendly rooms are available.
Sandalwoods Restaurant serves a complimentary hot and cold breakfast buffet from 06:00 to 09:00 (eggs, bacon or sausage, waffles, pastries and more) and steak dinners, currently on Fridays only; the Fireside Lounge offers drinks and appetizers, and room service is available. The White Buffalo Hotel has stood on Dunraven Street since 1967 and has been owned by the Beattie family since 2011; the West Yellowstone town centre is a short walk and the west gate of Yellowstone National Park is a few minutes' drive. The rooms, with two queen or two double beds and sleeping up to four, were modernised with upgraded mattresses while keeping a rustic look of natural wood and lava rock; each has a refrigerator, flat-screen TV, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi.
The hotel's own Cowboy Kitchen serves a full hot breakfast buffet from mid-May to mid-October (about $15 per person; two breakfasts a day are included in each room rate, children five and under free). Guests can relax in the private courtyard with deck; there is free parking, luggage storage and a self-service laundry. The building is a two-floor walk-up with no elevator, so ask for a ground-floor room if stairs are a problem, and there is no pool. Cancellations need 72 hours' notice.
