Four nights on a Century-line cruise ship with a balcony cabin, the Three Gorges Dam, Goddess Stream and Fengdu — departs every Monday, Tuesday and Friday
A six-day trip up the Yangtze from Wuhan to Chongqing with four nights on board a Century-line river cruise ship (Century Glory, Century Victory or Century Oasis). You see Wuhan’s Yellow Crane Tower and East Lake, take the high-speed train to Yichang, and board at Maoping. On the river: the Three Gorges Dam, Xiling, Wu and Qutang gorges, a small-boat trip into Goddess Stream, and the old town of Fengdu, before you disembark in Chongqing.
Your cabin is a deluxe standard cabin with a balcony on the ship’s second deck, and the night in Wuhan is at the Hilton Wuhan Riverside. Your guide speaks Chinese and English.
How the price works: CAD $1,899 per person sharing a twin cabin and room, land and cruise only (international flights are not included). Gratuities for your guides and drivers are included. The single supplement is CAD $850.
You are met at Wuhan airport and taken to your hotel. The rest of the day is free. No meals are included today.
Drive past the Yellow Crane Tower, Wuhan’s landmark, visit the East Lake Scenic Area and walk along Jianghan Road, one of China’s longest shopping streets, where lunch is at your own choice and cost. Then take the high-speed train to Yichang and board your ship at Maoping Pier. The safety briefing follows a buffet dinner on board.
Morning exercise on deck is optional before the buffet breakfast. The shore excursion is to the Three Gorges Dam site — the River Closure Memorial Park and the dam project museum. After lunch the ship leaves Yichang and sails through Xiling Gorge. The captain’s welcome reception is in the evening.
Transfer to a smaller boat for Goddess Stream, then cruise through Wu Gorge and Qutang Gorge, the shortest and most dramatic of the Three Gorges. At Fengjie you can join the optional shore excursion to White Emperor City or stay on board for the ship’s activities. The crew cabaret is in the evening.
After lunch, the shore excursion is to Fengdu Ghost City on the north bank of the Yangtze, a town nearly 2,000 years old (the cable car there is not included: CNY 20 one way, CNY 35 return, paid locally). After the farewell buffet dinner there is a show or film on board.
After breakfast, disembark in Chongqing. You are taken to the airport or railway station.

Practical guidance to help you prepare for and get the most out of this trip.
How the price is built. Per person in Canadian dollars, two travellers sharing a twin cabin and room. Gratuities for your guides and drivers are included, so nothing is added at checkout for them. The single supplement is CAD $850. A cabin cannot be shared with a stranger, so a solo traveller pays the supplement.
Your ship. The operator books one of three Century-line ships — Century Glory, Century Victory or Century Oasis — and confirms which one closer to departure. All three offer the same deluxe standard balcony cabins.
Costs on board. Lunch on day 2 in Wuhan, the Fengdu cable car (CNY 20 one way, CNY 35 return) and the optional White Emperor City excursion are paid locally.
Flights. The trip starts in Wuhan and ends in Chongqing, so book an open-jaw ticket (into Wuhan, out of Chongqing). An extra night in Wuhan before the tour costs from CAD $220 per room per night with breakfast.
Departures. Every Monday, Tuesday and Friday, at least two travellers per booking; each date is confirmed after we check cabin availability with the operator. The order of visits can change with river levels and lock times at the dam.
